Open Call: Designer In Residence exchange program 2017
Apply for a one-month stay in Belgrade this autumn! betahaus Hamburg & Nova Iskra Belgrade proudly present a Designer In Residence exchange program 2017
betahaus Hamburg and Nova Iskra from Belgrade, Serbia are proud to announce the first German open call for Designer in Residence program – a month-long residential stay in Belgrade intended for designers, architects and other authors or researchers active in related fields.
Exchange of authors takes place through the Create In Residence platform, a multi-disciplinary international program that was initiated in 2014 by the Swedish Institute in collaboration with Nova Iskra and other partners. Currently, the residency exchange for designers includes partnerships between Serbia and Sweden, Slovakia, France and now – Germany. This new collaboration is enabled with the support of Goethe-Institut Belgrad.
Interdisciplinary work, careful planning of each of the residencies according to the needs of their users and the specifics of the host organizations are the main features of the program. Since 2014, more than 30 authors benefited from it. While hosting selected participants from other European countries, Nova Iskra also provides Serbian authors with an opportunity for residency stays in Sweden and France.
The concept of the residency is "open-ended", meaning that the participants are not expected to realize or complete specific projects during their stay. The visiting author from Germany will have the complete support of Nova Iskra team, in order to research and get connected to the local creative scene, or use local resources to develop own projects.
Travel and accommodation costs (individual flat) are fully covered, as well as a scholarship of 800 EUR, while participating author will be required to engage in Nova Iskra programs during their stay, through public presentations and/or organization of workshops. The resident will also have a dedicated workspace at the Nova Iskra hub for the entire duration of the residency. The residential stay in Belgrade will be realized between November 1st – 30th 2017.
