The next BETAPITCH Hamburg is on its way, preparations are in full effect, and the whole betahaus crew can hardly wait to welcome you for pitchday on September 14, 2017.

We also want to get that fire into you: So before we'll present you the list of all finalists in the beginning of next week, let's start with background info on this years's judges. Enjoy!


Mimi Sewalski
Managing Director, Avocado Store

After several years of start-up experience in Tel Aviv/Israel and after spending a few years in advertisement, Mimi works now as CEO of was founded 2010 and is Germanys biggest online Marketplace for sustainable products, which are presented by more than 600 retailers, often start-ups themselves.

Mimi accompagnied many of them over the last years and can share their experiences.


Mark Miller
Founder & Investor (CatCap)

Mark Miller is Founder & Managing Partner of CatCap. He studied economics and business at the University of Witten/Herdecke and the University of Texas at Austin under a scholarship from the Association of German-American Clubs and a Fulbright scholarship. A recipient of the Bertram Prize for Economics, Mark is also a winner of the University of Kassel Entrepreneurship Essay Competition.

Holding a BA in business administration, he worked at Deutsche Bank in the corporate client and asset management businesses before joining Bertelsmann AG as a strategic investment analyst. He has been involved in more than 100 successful transactions.


Andreas Lenz
Founder t3n Magazin & hardwrk GmbH

Andreas is one of the founders and CEO of yeebase media GmbH, the publisher behind the t3n Magazine for Digital Business, co-founder of hardwrk GmbH, a manufacturer of Apple accessories and cofounder of bootbird ventures, a small SaaS-B2B-Accelerator.

Since the Information Management studies at the Fachhochschule Hannover he deals with the issues online marketing, brand building, Startups, Social Media and SaaS. Currently the areas of growth hacking, brand building, blockchain and DAO are very high on his list of interests, especially in terms of SaaS-driven business models and investments. In his private life he loves trips to Asia und California, white wine and good food.


Fridjof Detzner
Co-Founder, Jimdo

Fridtjof is an entrepreneur, sportsman, traveler and idealist. He is the co-founder of Jimdo, the DIY website builder that has helped businesses around the world create over 20 million websites with no coding required. A dedicated practitioner of lean/agile principles, Detzner is a driving force behind Jimdo’s sustainable, fun, and innovative company culture.

In his life beyond Jimdo, Fridel is a person who loves to explore—whether it’s new tech, sports, people, or new places. He balances work with equal excitement for the outdoors, including kitesurfing, paragliding, skiing, road biking, MTB, and other sports. He also loves to travel and is currently working on a documentary with Deutsche Welle to share the stories of innovative founders in different countries.


Min-Sung Sean Kim
Venture Capitalist at Allianz Ventures, Digital Health

Min-Sung conducts global digital health investments for Allianz Ventures, the Venture Capital unit of Allianz Group, that reaches 75m customers in 80 countries worldwide. Prior to Allianz Ventures he was Partner of a Berlin-based venture capital fund that specialized in Digital Health Series A investments. Having been an entrepreneur before, he understands the challenges and difficulties of building up a company.

With his blog, he hopes to serve as a helpful resource for digital health tech startups in the region. Min-Sung is also a contributing writer for mediums including TechCrunch and Tech.EU. He has invested in startups including Neuronation, Mimi, and most notably mySugr – which was recently acquired by Roche. Min-Sung studied Business Economics at Witten/Herdecke, Harvard, St.Gallen, and in Seoul.


Constanze Schumann-Plekat
Head of Marketing, Mesaic

Constanze is Head of Marketing at Mesaic. After her MBA in Media Management she worked for Veloyo which turned from B2C to B2B and became Mesaic - a SaaS messaging solution. Mesaic enables businesses to deliver superior service experience via messaging.


Rey Buckman
Airbus BizLab Leader Hamburg

Reymound-Yaw Buckman, called Rey, has been Airbus BizLab Leader in Hamburg since September 2015. The Airbus BizLab is a Global Aerospace Accelerator and operates in a hybrid concept for external start-ups and internal projects, in order to accelerate the transformation of innovative ideas into successful businesses. Rey started with Airbus for his dual study programme in 2006 and then worked for 3 years at the company's headquarter in Toulouse before taking a 2.5-year time-out.

During this time, he traveled through Ghana and Brazil, completed the two-year CEMS Master in International Management in Sao Paulo, London and Rotterdam and gained experience in two digital-health startups, where he focused on business model innovation in low- and middle-income countries.

He believes that innovation in digital technology will revolutionize traditionally conservative sectors such as aerospace and healthcare, especially in emerging markets. Understanding and developing partnerships with entrepreneurs, investors, multinational corporations, non-profits, policy makers, and the civil society are the next steps in his objective to make an impact.


Dominic Wilhelm
Investment Team,

Dominic works at, a global VC fund, as a member of their European investment team. Previously, he was part of a startup in the real estate space after brief instances in strategy consulting, private equity and various tech companies. He holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from WHU as well as an M.Sc. in Management from ESCP Europe. Dominic considers himself to be a crypto enthusiast, movie junkie and dog lover.
